Ingredients

  • 1/2 avocado
  • Squeeze of fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup brown rice uncooked
  • 1/4 can black beans
  • pinch of ground cumin
  • himalayan sea salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste

Directions

  • Cook brown rice until soft and tender
  • Rinse black beans under water
  • In a small sauce pan, heat black beans on low heat and add cumin, salt, black pepper and squeeze of lemon
  • Mash beans with a fork
  • Add brown rice (about 1/2 a cup cooked) and mash with fork
  • Mash avocado, add a small amount of lemon juice and add this to brown rice and black beans
  • Mix well

Recommended for toddlers 1 and older

Ingredients

  • 1 cup broccoli
  • 2 small potatoes
  • himalayan sea salt to taste
  • braggs no salt seasoning to taste or your choice of fresh herbs chopped finely
  • coconut oil

Directions

  • Steam broccoli and potatoes until tender
  • Mash broccoli and potatoes well with potato masher
  • Add himalayan sea salt and bragg’s seasoning
  • Form into small 2 inch pancakes (about 1 cm thick)
  • In a small frying pan heat coconut oil on low to medium heat
  • Place pancakes on frying pan and cook on each side until lightly browned

Recommended for children over one

Ingredients

  • 1 large organic potato
  • 1 carrot peeled & shredded
  • 1/2 zucchini shredded
  • Himalayan sea salt to taste
  • Coconut oil

Directions

  • Boil potato until tender and ready to mash
  • Mash potato and mix well with shredded carrot and zucchini
  • Add sea salt to taste
  • Form into small patties (about 2 inches wide)
  • In a small frying pan add a tiny bit of coconut oil and heat on low-medium
  • Lightly brown patties on each side

Recommended for children over one

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp grape seed oil
  • 1/2 can organic BPA free chick peas or 1 cup dried chickpeas soaked over night
  • 1/2 small tomato diced finely
  • 1 small potato peeled and cubed
  • 5 basil leaves finely chopped
  • 1-2 tsp olive oil
  • himalayan sea salt to taste

Directions

  • In a medium sauce pan, boil potato until soft and tender
  • In another sauce pan heat grape seed oil on low-medium heat
  • Add tomatoes and saute for 5 min with lid covered
  • Add chickpeas and cook until soft with lid covered
  • Add boiled potato
  • Add basil and himalayan sea salt
  • Stir well and mash with a fork to desired texture
  • Turn stove off and then add olive oil on top and stir wells

I would recommend this recipe for infants over one year old and to start with a small amount of chick peas initially since they can cause stomach upset and gas.

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp red lentils
  • 2 tbsp brown rice
  • 1/2 tsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 tsp tumeric
  • himalayan sea salt to taste

Directions

  • Wash brown rice and red lentils until water is clear
  • Boil with water, once water comes to a boil, reduce to a simmer and cook until rice is cooked and tender
  • Add tumeric, himalayan sea salt and olive oil and mix well

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp red lentils
  • 1 carrot peeled and diced
  • 3 tbsp water
  • 1/4 tsp tumeric
  • himalayan sea salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp extra virgin olive oil

Directions

  • Wash red lentils well until water is clear
  • Soak for approx 30 – 60 min
  • Boil red lentils and carrots until tender and cooked (add more water if needed)
  • Add tumeric
  • Puree with a blender or mash with a fork for lumpier texture
  • Add salt and olive oil and mix well

Baby Food – Apple Rice Cereal

Ingredients

  • 1/2 apple (I use red gala or pink lady apples) finely grated (use the side of the grater with the smallest holes)
  • 2 tbsp organic brown rice cereal (The brand Plum makes a good one)
  • warm water, formula, or breast milk to desired consistency
  • tiny pinch of cinnamon

Directions

  • Mix all ingredients well and serve immediately

Ingredients

  • 1/2 zucchini diced
  • 1/2 sweet potato, peeled and diced
  • 1 carrot peeled and diced
  • 1/2 tsp olive oil (only use if infant is 10 months or older)
  • tiny pinch of pink himalayan sea salt

Directions

  • Steam zucchini, sweet potato and carrot in a steamer pot until tender
  • Blend well and add desired amount of water (from steamer pot) to get desired consistency
  • Add olive oil and salt

This is a good option for breakfast instead of boring rice cereal

Ingredients

  • 1/3 ripe banana peeled
  • 1/2 avocado peeled and seed removed

Directions

  • Put both ingredients in a bowl and mash well with a fork or potato masher
  • Serve immediately to prevent avocado and banana from becoming brown
